Far to complicated question to “answer” on yahoo. the prevailing wisdom as you clearly already know is mantle convection is driving plate tectonics, but the geochemical and geophysical evidence for mantle convection is sketchy and inconclusive, especially with regards to models of the nature of the mantle (i.e. the whole mantle or a layered mantle etc..
Really a good answer will require you to wade through a number of papers, some of which are available online, try a google search for “geophysical and geochemical evidence for mantle convection

i have the full google earth pro and went to look at CITI FIELD in flushing ny and its not there! its the “new” home of the mets and actually is over a couple years old now! it still shows the old shea stadium in its place which was demo’d years ago! any help on a recent update?

You don’t, or can’t update the maps.
Google Earth consists of satellite images taken over a period of years. Some are high resolution, but some are still low-resolution images taken many years ago.
Google has recently launched it’s own higher resolution satellites, but they have a lot of ground to cover. Keep in mind, that the satellites may pass over your area at night or when there is too much cloud. The next pass may be weeks, months or even years away. It’s really is up to the weather.
When clear images are finally received, a group of people will assemble them into something resembling your place of interest. That’s why some views look like a montage. Where I live, the adjacent images are months or years apart and in different colours. My house is in high resolution, but houses a few blocks away are still very old low resolution photos. They were probably covered by cloud when the most recent satellite passed over.
Google Earth is a wonderful resource, but we must all remember that it’s many years away from being perfect.

Back when I was younger, a relative of mine used to watch this chemistry 101 show on the television.
I was wondering now, that I am in high school, if there is any such thing as an Algebra channel or an earth science learning channel.. If not then feel free to suggest any other high school freshman courses.
Also, keep in mind that I have optimum. (No offense intended to other cable companies) I would appreciate it if you included the channel number with the name of the show(well, that is, if you have optimum). But if the channel number is unavailabe, the name of the show is fine. Thanks guys.. easy ten points.

I lived in a coastal Long Island town half my life, with no current people i know living there any more, i have been searching to see what the damage was to my child-hood home. I have a bad feeling, as we lived right off the bay. The news displayed before and after footage of the Jersey Shore via aerial satellite feed and i was wondering if i could somehow check my old home in the same way?

There are many types of software available in the market to provide such services, all easy to download. The common ones are April Fools Satellite Live 1.0, Google Earth 5.2.1.1329 Beta, Earth3D 1.0.5, EarthDesk 5.4, Google earth Pro 4.3, Bing Maps, Potaro 1.1.0.9, Satellite TV player, Earth’s Core 1.0 beta and Online live 6.3.37. After downloading the software, a person just needs to follow the easy instructions. Almost all the places and minor parts are documented in the software.

If you are talking about 3D Rendering programs, try:
- Google Sketchup (plain and simple BUT you must download it, very small size though. this program was made to also make 3d models of buildings in google earth).
